We didn't take many pictures on Thanksgiving Day. Mostly because mama is the chief photographer and she spent most of the day in the kitchen.
I wish we would have taken a picture of the whole spread, but here's the turkey. It was probably the best turkey she's ever made, thanks mostly to the fact that she soaked it overnight in her Uncle Jim's secret marinade (to which she added extra beer). The menu also included a ham, homemade mashed potatoes, Gram's sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, cranberry jello, and some awesome orange peels filled with a sweet potato custard and topped with sweet potatoes and marshmallows that were made by Mister Andy and Miss Christina, who drove all the way down from Charlotte to spend the day with us. Look closer and you can see the massive amount of sweets that Grams and Aunt Molly brought. The entire buffet was covered in sweets and there was so much that the apple pie and pumpkin pie are still mostly whole.
We borrowed our neighbors folding tables and managed to clear out the toy room enough to set up a long dinner table. It was a great meal with lots of good company- or so mama says. I took one look at everything and declared I didn't like it. So I spent Thanksgiving Dinner watching Thomas the Tank Engine, which was more enjoyable for all of us.
Sadie found the jack-in-the-box, which is more of a lion-on-pajamas-in-a-box. This is another toy June is scared of, but loves to be scared by. Here's a video of her wincing til it popped out. Luckily, Miss Christina was there for a good cuddle.
Since all of the kids either slept or watched videos during Thanksgiving dinner, they weren't sluggish for the rest of the day. Things got fun and LOUD when we started chasing each other around. Sadie and I really went fast and June did her best to keep up.
We visited a drive through Christmas display before bed. Then we got in our jams when we got home for a movie night with Aunt Girl. A great end to a great day.
