Hot times, summer in the city- Henry.

It was already pretty muggy this morning at practice and climbing quickly into the 80s. Mama had wanted to go camping this weekend, but it was supposed to be in the 90s with a chance of thunderstorms, so we told her no.
Instead, she found a model train show for us to go to. We've been to enough train shows that we're seeing some of the same set-ups and recognizing some of the volunteers. We love this one because it is full of interactive displays and is lined with buttons for kids to push.
Plus, they had a couple Thomas set-ups for kids to play with.
We've been to enough shows to know that train sets are built at adult level, which is always over our heads. Mama and papa also know that unless they want to spend 3 hours lifting kids up, they should bring their own step stools for us to stand on. Usually, we get a few comments from people telling us it's a smart idea. Today, we actually had parents asking who gave us the step stools and trying to take them from us because they thought we were hogging them from their kids. Sorry guys, we're not giving these up.
We loved the displays that automatically loaded barrels on to a fork lift then on to the train with a push of a button.
(Take a look at these sweaty people. Aunt Girl, mama has been trying to grow her hair out for the wedding next summer, but this is about as long as mama can handle it. It's too long for summer. We don't know how all those people with thick long hair handle it.)
While I got to run the Thomas train, mama got a good picture of my thick mop of hair. It's really starting to bother me now that it is so hot, and I'm always complaining about how sweaty my head is. Mama offered to cut it, but I told her I only want Grandma Seibert to do it. Get your lawn shears ready, Grandma. Maybe you can convince me to shave me head.
After we left the train show, we had a little picnic outside, then headed downtown to the Greek Fest at St. George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral. By that time, it was after 2pm and REALLY hot. Luckily, they had some indoor seating so we could enjoy the two huge sampler platters we bought. I started right in on the pastries. My favorite were the Kourambedes.
Mama and papa focused on the main meal and contemplated becoming Greek Orthodox just to be a part of the best Greek food they've ever had. We could go on and on about how good the food was, but we won't. But here's the link to the food we tried today, in case you're interested.

Maybe they were feeling bad for keeping us up in the heat during naptime, so mama and papa said we could pick out one ride. We picked the helicopters. It was hard for us to understand that we couldn't have unlimited rides, especially after the festival last weekend.
We were so excited to get in the helicopters. While I view these rides as a good opportunity to examine the inner workings of carnival rides, June took over the controls and looked pretty pleased with herself.
I did help out periodically by spinning the propellers.

We were so tired when we left that I didn't want to push the stroller (I normally insist upon it) and June couldn't even make it back to the car.
She even stayed asleep when mama got her out of the stroller and tossed her in her seat.

She didn't wake up when papa harassed her ("Stock tickle..."), but she did wake up 5 minutes later when mama put on a movie. Heaven forbid we ever sleep in the car.
Back at home, we had a quiet evening. Mama and papa let us finish out movie so they could take a nap. Mama didn't get much sleep because June kept climbing on top of her, pulling her eyelids open and yelling "Wake up!" When we cleaned up our toys, June really pulled out all the stops when she pulled her rocking chair out of the corner, wrapped her June doll up in her blankie and rocked her while singing "Twinkle, twinkle little star." We are really getting excited for this baby to get here already.
Despite this tender moment, we can't help but notice how rough and tumble June is. Look at those bruised shins and dirty socks! It looks like she jumped into piles of stones all day long.

For example, here's a video from last night. Don't mind mama and papa constantly talking. They were trying to get June to talk because she originally came hopping into the room yelling "Erb! Erb!", then stood up and announced "I'm a fog!" We do think she is saying "Look, a mommy pig!" at the end when she starts babbling.

Last baseball practice- June.

This morning we had Henry's last baseball practice.
He's really come a long way since the first practice when he refused to leave the bench. Even the coach called him "Most Improved."
He was hitting all home runs today.
For once, I didn't cry the whole practice- just the first 5 minutes. Even though papa found a glove and baseball bat for me, I wanted to be on the field with Bubba.
Luckily, mama brought my breakfast and was able to distract me.
For once, Henry wanted to dress the part for something. He insisted that Papa give him his Reds cap.
Henry and his coach. His coach is also a coach at the local high school and is still good friends with many of the football players who now play for Clemson. He told us that Jarvis Jenkins is going to help him coach 4 year old football this fall. That might be enough to get us to sign Henry up.
After practice, they had one more team cheer. "Goooooo Tigers!"

Every week, the kids practice running bases. Henry was a little late to remember to run home from third.
