Road trippin'- June.

On Thursday, we packed up the van and headed up north for a little vacation.
First stop- Cincinnati. Our friends Mister Paul and Miss Susan just moved up there from North Carolina in pursuit of higher education.
Mister Paul was excited to meet baby Georgie for the first time.
And to supply her with her first Hudy beer. That's the Cincinnati equivalent of Schlitz. DELIGHT!
We were really excited to find out that Aunt Katie was going to be at the Ikea with Sadie and our new cousin Dash! We hightailed it over. (After a wonderful midwestern breakfast buffet at the Big Boy. They had chicken nuggets!!!)
We were so excited to meet our new cousin. He's teensy tiny. And he's only 11 days younger than Georgie. But she was over a week late and he was a couple weeks early (the nerve!), so really we're about 5 weeks apart. Hopefully he wakes up the next time we see him.

My journal-Henry.

At school, we have journals in which to draw pictures and practice writing letters. Natalie carries around a little notebook and write the words she knows. I've been taking this all in and it dawned on me that I could write things on my own too.

When the Seibert party started to wind down, papa took us inside for baths so mama could stay out and talk with the grown-ups. (Thanks, papa) After baths, I picked up the magna doodle and got to work. With all the Dick and Jane I've been reading, I knew how to spell most of the words. And I sounded out the rest. I was pretty pleased with myself.

Since I still need some practice with my handwriting, my "journal" says:
Henry and June
Henry reeds Dick and Jane
Henry likes to reed

(We can't figure out why Blogger keeps turning this picture, but gave up trying to fix it after reloading it 10 times. Hopefully you can read it.)
